Day 6 — My Hope Is in Jesus
Today's Focus: Make Jesus the foundation of your life, not merely the answer to a temporary problem.
Read: John 10:9; John 14:6; Psalm 62:5–8
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6,
The Lesson
Over the past five days, we have examined our desires, our perseverance, our relationship with Scripture, the things competing for our trust, and our need for restoration.
Now we arrive at the central question of the entire journey:
Is my hope ultimately in what I want God to do, or is my hope in God Himself?
It is natural to pray for a better job, a stronger marriage, good health, financial stability, or the salvation of our children. God invites us to bring our concerns to Him. We can ask boldly and believe that He is able to work in ways beyond our understanding. But if our hope depends entirely on receiving a particular answer, what happens when the answer is delayed? What happens when the door closes? What happens when we pray sincerely and still have to walk through a difficult season?
This is where our relationship with Jesus becomes the foundation of our hope. Jesus did not merely offer directions to God. He declared that He is the way, the truth, and the life. Our ultimate hope is not a formula for getting everything we want. It is found in knowing Him, trusting His Word, following His direction, and resting in the salvation He provides. We can pursue success without worshiping success. We can pray for healing while continuing to trust God through uncertainty. We can work toward restoring a relationship while recognizing that we cannot control another person's response. Our circumstances matter, but they are not our Savior. The good news of the gospel is that when we fall, we can return to Christ. When we sin, we can repent. When we become discouraged, we can seek His strength. When we do not understand the road ahead, we can continue following the One who does. That is why our hope can endure life's journey. My hope is not simply that life will go my way. My hope is that Jesus will remain my way, my truth, and my life. Reflect and be honest. If God does not answer one of your prayers in the way you desire, will you continue trusting Him? Has your relationship with Jesus become centered primarily on what you want Him to do for you? What is one change you can make so that your daily life more clearly reflects your confidence in Christ?
Life Application: Make a personal commitment
Complete the following statement in your own words:
“From this day forward, I will place my hope in Jesus by __________.”
Then identify three commitments for the coming week:
My spiritual commitment: One way I will strengthen my relationship with God.
My personal commitment: One behavior, habit, or attitude I will work to change.
My relationship commitment: One way I will demonstrate Christlike love, patience, forgiveness, or integrity toward someone else.
Finally, read John 14:6 aloud. Let its message remind you that Christian hope begins and ends with Jesus Christ.
Today's Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the way, the truth, and the life. Forgive me for the times I have placed my hope in temporary things while neglecting my relationship with You. Teach me to trust You in seasons of blessing and seasons of uncertainty. Give me the strength to keep growing, the humility to repent when I am wrong, and the faith to follow Your Word. I surrender my desires, my plans, my family, my future, and my life to You. Whatever tomorrow brings, help me remember that my hope is in You. In Jesus' name, amen.
Journal prompt: What does it mean for me personally to say, “My hope is in Jesus,” and what must change in my life for that statement to be true?
Carry This With You: My circumstances are part of my journey, but Jesus is the foundation of my hope.

Closing Reflection: What have I learned about hope?
At the end of these six days, take a few minutes to answer these final questions.
Where was I placing my hope before I began this study?
What has God shown me about my priorities, my faith, or my decisions?
What am I still struggling to surrender to Him?
What specific change will I carry into the next week?
Can I honestly say that my hope is in Jesus, even when I do not understand my circumstances?
A Final Word To Carry Forward
Hope is not a guarantee that every day will be easy or that every prayer will be answered according to our expectations. Hope is the confidence that God is worthy of our trust, His Word remains our guide, and Jesus Christ is our Savior.
We will fall sometimes. We will make mistakes. We will face seasons that do not make sense. But we do not have to remain separated from God, trapped by our past, or controlled by our circumstances.
We can return to the Word. We can repent. We can make better decisions. We can keep growing. And we can trust Jesus through every season of life's journey.
The question is not simply, “What are you hoping for?” The question is, “In whom have you placed your hope?”
My hope is in Jesus.
